At the conference Construction and Operation of Parking Garages and Underground Garages of the Management Forum Starnberg, the focus was on mobility concepts of the future. The conference was held from June 16 to 17, 2021 in the Werksviertel Munich.
Among the topics of the conference were the parking garage as a mobility interface with multimodal uses in changing times, innovations for parking and parking garages, and digital parking.
Over the course of two days, the participants addressed mobility concepts of the future and discussed requirements for parking infrastructure, challenges arising from social change, and sustainable construction and management. Particularly under the aspect of sustainability, the points of electromobility and optimized use of parking space also received attention.
While mobility concepts often talk about routes or transport options, stationary traffic plays a decisive role. Cars are parked for more than 20 hours a day, not always on private property, but also in public areas, in parking garages or at the roadside. Parking is therefore a fundamental aspect of mobility.
The demands on parking are mutually dependent on the state of mobility. For example, the pressure for e-charging stations in parking areas is increasing due to the rising proportion of e-vehicles.
As experts in parking management, Peter Park shed light on the transformation of parking lots into mobility hubs.
Using the town of Miltenberg as an example, Maximilian Schlereth explained how the integration of parking apps can successfully link on-street and off-street parking. By linking mobility services, cities can optimize capacity utilization, control parking guidance systems and gain transparent insights into inner-city mobility.
At the end of the first conference day, Peter Park welcomed participants of the Management Forum to WERK1. In a relaxed atmosphere, they were able to exchange impressions of the day and meet various players from the industry.
